The prevalence in diagnosis of people with mental health conditions challenges businesses to be able to respond to staff needs and also makes these conditions less of a stigma for those living with them.

Dementia is caused by diseases of the brain resulting in a range of symptoms which affect the way people are able to live. Also affected are those that care for people with dementia – these people often develop stress-related mental health conditions resulting in degraded performance in the work environment.

By understanding more about dementia, how people are affected, and how carers have to cope – we will be in a better position to recognise when people are having a difficult time and also to feel more empathetic for those living with dementia or taking a caring role. Improved awareness will lead to more acceptance and hopefully lead to people feeling less isolated and more supported.

By attending one of these Dementia Awareness talks you will learn the basics about the subject, how someone with dementia can live reasonably well and what carers have to cope with.

Two time slots are available – registration is essential:

10 October 2017 – 10-11am – – this time slot is filling quickly, please consider booking the later talk if possible

10 October 2017 – 16.30-17.30pm –

Both talks will be given in room BIC 2/29 at the 3M BIC by Andy Morris of NPL who is a Dementia Friend Champion.
