Welcome to Kent Pharma and sl-ect Ltd who have recently become tenants at the 3M BIC.
Kent Pharma is a leading manufacturer and distributor of generic pharmaceuticals and UK market leader in several niche products. It supplies to hospitals and wholesalers and has the largest tender of awarded lines to the hospital sector for injectables. Its Athlone site in Ireland is a dedicated production facility for anti-infective medicines (antibiotics) and there is a large new product development department in the UK and Ireland.
Dalkeith, now part of parent company Kent-Athlone Pharma, is a former tenant of the 3M BIC, so we’re welcoming back some familiar faces, including Lynne Whiteley.
“As Dalkeith we had leased a laboratory on the first floor and we were very happy here, it made sense to come back and the two labs we have on the ground floor are absolutely ideal for our requirements.” Lynne explains.
“Our team at the 3M BIC develops liquid and cream formulations as well as further generic medicines for the UK and Ireland markets. Some we are developing in the lab at the 3M BIC, others are being manufactured elsewhere but managed by my team and the wider business development teams.”
Our second new tenant is sl-ect that has been in business since 2008 re-selling Siemens Opcenter APS factory scheduling software, which is very well known in manufacturing circles by its old name of Preactor.
The software works closely with supply and demand data from Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. sl-ect also provides integration software that works with all four of the Sage ERP systems used in the UK.
As part of its overall service, the sl-ect team offers implementation consultancy, data integrations, shop floor data capture and ongoing technical support.
sl-ect’s Steve Littlewood, said, “We recently went live on a planning (MRP) and scheduling system for Starbrands (owners of Stardrops and The Pink Stuff) at their factory in Redditch. We are also just starting a project at Precise Component Manufacturing Ltd in Cambridgeshire to use their scheduling system to improve their process for customer order promising.
“The 3M BIC is well located and an impressive place to bring customers to visit and to attract employees.”
