The 3M BIC has welcomed two placement students, Elena Dellimpaltidou and Olivia Fitton.
Aligned with the University of Huddersfield, the 3M BIC has a longstanding history of placement students, with several of our permanent team members starting out as placement students.
Originally from Cyprus, Elena decided to study abroad and chose the University of Huddersfield for its high rankings on education and the modules her course provided. She is studying a BA(Hons) in Business Management, taking a pause in her studies to gain experience in the industry at the 3M BIC, where she can apply her skills and improve her knowledge within her Events Assistant position.
Elena has quickly settled into her role, describing her typical day here at the 3M BIC: “Everyday can vary. The first thing I do in the morning is to check my calendar to see the bookings of the day and start preparing any refreshments or set the meeting rooms if needed. When I return to the office, I reply to emails and start solving issues regarding the events that 3M BIC runs at that time and after the client has checked out. I also check the meeting rooms to see if everything is okay.”
A gym and shopping lover, Elena hopes her time at the 3M BIC will provide her with the industry knowledge and experience she needs to complete her degree and in the future her postgraduate!
Olivia joins us as our new Marketing Assistant. Olivia is currently doing a BA(Hons) in Advertising and Marketing at the University of Huddersfield. During the summer, Olivia was offered the opportunity to shadow the Business Development & Marketing Director and Strategic Marketing Consultant at Alpine Fire Engineers. She gained valuable insight into how the skills she learnt at university can be applied in a large- scale commercial environment. This inspired her to get a placement, leading to her Marketing Assistant position within the 3M BIC.
Olivia started two weeks ago and said, “The staff at 3M BIC are friendly and welcoming, making me feel comfortable from the get-go. I was first introduced to Emily, who instantly put my nerves at ease and made me feel part of the team. The building itself is fascinating and is home to lots of incredible businesses. I love the fact that I am constantly surrounded by innovation.”
A self-confessed theatre geek, Olivia is excited to be surrounded by a team that has a deep knowledge of marketing and are passionate about the success of the 3M BIC. The ability to gain insight from them will motivate her throughout her placement.
