Anchor tenant NPL’s Manufacturer Measurement Network (MMN) has been designed to help SME manufacturers become more productive, agile and quality oriented.
Membership of the network offers small businesses an opportunity to see first-hand how their peers and customers meet new manufacturing challenges, with an emphasis on part validation; the chance to network with other manufacturers at different tiers in supply chains, as well as build closer links with NPL engineers and scientists to discuss measurement challenges.
The MMN also offers seminars on digital manufacturing, robotics and additive manufacturing, and other hot topics chosen by the MMN members themselves. Its next event is an online Nanometrology event on the 21 September at 3:30 pm. The event will feature talks from the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), Queensgate and Diamond Light Facility.
The event will give insight into NPL’s work in nanometrology including an overview of dimensional nanometrology research at NPL, the UK’s National Metrology Institute, to meet current and future requirements for nanotechnology to support science and industry.
The talks will give a brief overview of the importance of traceable metrology to Queensgate and the collaborative support they have received from NPL. Diamond Light Facility will also provide a short overview of the Precision Metrology Lab and Optics Metrology Lab discussing the need for calibration and traceability to support current and future needs at Diamond.
If you use precision stages in applications, such as precision instrumentation, or require nano positioning, then this event will be of interest to you.
The event is free of charge, but you will need to register prior to the event.
