We recently had Engaging Education at the 3M BIC filming some footage of our technology on behalf of FutureGoals, which provides advice and support to help young people find employment across the region.
FutureGoals is delivered by Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and provides inspiration and support to help people of all ages choose their career paths, give them the right skills and experience to start work or change career, and provide vital links between education and employers.
The 3M BIC was chosen as one of the facilities to be filmed due to its exciting, innovative and interesting nature, to showcase the variety of businesses within and help raise awareness of the work that happens at the Centre.
The videographer had an opportunity to film the Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence at the 3M BIC, the Zeiss Imaging Suite, and our new x-ray laboratory.
As part of the filming, the team at Surfachem, one of our longstanding tenants was filmed. The team at Surfachem is predominantly female and is a great example of showcasing female scientists in 3M BIC to help attract more girls and young women into scientific and technology careers.
The aim of FutureGoals is to address current and future skills shortages in the manufacturing and engineering, construction, digital, health and creative industries.
As part of its ongoing commitment to up-to-date labour market information, FutureGoals has created an easy to digest, interactive and engaging labour market information (LMI) resource for key stakeholders, education and careers providers and key decision makers. The resource is an interactive shorthand animation with videos to showcase the West Yorkshire area, its businesses and people.
This resource builds on the annual LMI report to help its partners and providers across the City Region to inform and underpin key decisions on programmes and projects for employment and skills initiatives.
