Well done to our tenant Simon Iwaniszak, founder of Red Kite Games, after winning Young Business Person of the Year at the Examiner Business Awards on 4 November.

At just 27, Simon founded Red Kite Games, a video game development company, in 2012 and since then it has gone from strength to strength.

Starting off with a team of three developers, Simon now employs 15, boasting vast experience and skills having worked for many of the major players in the industry, including Rockstar, Activision, Sony, EA, Codemasters and Sumo Digital.

Over the years Red Kite Games has developed award-winning video games for platform holders, studios and publishers in the UK and overseas, as well as creating its own video games, building a solid reputation across the industry worldwide.

Simon said: “Red Kite Games continues to work on big IP and multi-million dollar franchises and has helped to deliver seven different video games over the past 12 months.

“In collaboration with GameDigits, a fellow Yorkshire video games studio, we successfully released Dream Machine on IOS, Android and Windows. The video game received critical reviews of four stars and above.”

Simon also supports young talent, employing three full-time graduates from the University of Huddersfield and volunteering half a day of his time each week to work with staff and students. He also ensures a healthy work-life balance by operating flexi-time and encouraging staff to keep fit.
