Following attendance at a recent Cyber Security event at the 3M BIC, Probado Limited, a 3M BIC tenant, has formed a partnership with the Computer Science department at the University of Huddersfield.
The project, to develop a user-friendly, web-based Security Audit tool which will help companies quickly assess their risk from internet security breaches.
Probado’s Gordon Maclean said: “What we are doing is not new and there are tools that assess these threats, however, they are often complex and confusing to the uninitiated. Our tool will create a report which non IT professionals can understand, that shows potential threat(s), and we plan to provide it free of charge.”
Simon Parkinson from the University of Huddersfield said: “This project is contributing towards addressing the large need to produce automated and user-friendly mechanisms of cyber security auditing. Due to the increased sophistication of cyberattacks, there is a pressing need for all IT systems to be frequently audited for vulnerabilities; however, this is something that requires extensive expertise and can be costly. This project is of significant benefit to all as it provides a mechanism to easily identify potential system vulnerabilities, as well as initiate contact with Probado who are able to assist them in mitigating identified threats.”
