Our innovation-focused flexible offices, dedicated research & development labs, and collaborative co-working spaces are housed within a beautifully converted mill – providing a unique space for SMEs looking to innovate and connect with the University of Huddersfield.

Community & collaboration at 3M BIC

We are more than just office space.

We have built a like-minded community through trusted and respected relationships with employees, businesses, partners and members.

Our businesses are from a wide range of sectors including software, nuclear, artificial intelligence (AI), IP, accountancy, metrology and chemistry.

We have over 50 members as part of our membership that benefit from networking opportunities, company address registration and discount on our event spaces.

Events

We host events throughout the year that focus on a variety of topics relating to innovation and enterprise.

We also have onsite meeting and conferencing facilities that can be hired for meetings, conferences or training events.

University of Huddersfield Facilities

We are located close to the University of Huddersfield campus.

Get access to gyms and food and drink outlets, such as the Toast House, offering a variety of options for breakfast, brunch and lunch.

3M BIC businesses get 10% off at the Weavers and Mill campus cafes, across from the building. 

Opening hours

Monday to Friday – 8.00am – 5.00pm

Swipe access for 3M BIC businesses – 7.00am – 10.00pm during the week

Weekend access – 8.00am – 8.00pm by swipe card

Location & transport links

We are at the bottom of the University of Huddersfield campus on Firth Street, a 5-minute-walk from the town centre and 10-15-minute-walk from Huddersfield’s railway and bus stations.

The car park can be accessed via the entrance to IQ student accommodation at the bottom of the car park. The barrier on the roadside is for EXIT only.

Please note that the car parks at the front and back of the building are for staff permit holders only between the hours of 6am – 6pm and are operated by an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system.

Parking is available for 3M BIC resident businesses from £80 + VAT per month per space, subject to availability, between the hours of 6am – 10pm. Limited visitor parking is also available and must be pre-booked at reception.

Please note that any unauthorised vehicles parked on-site will be subject to a fine.

After 6pm, the car park is open to the public and managed via the RingGo app.

There are numerous NCP car parks within a 5-minute-walk from the Centre that charge from as little as 95p per hour or from £2.95 a day.
