NPL hosted a successful Manufacturer Measurement Network event on 13 November.
The event was held in two parts, attracting college students in the morning and MMN members in the evening.
The college students heard a talk regarding the NPL Robot Wars robot; experienced VR activities and 3D printing within ‘The Byte’; interactive SI unit stands; and met with the University of Huddersfield’s HARE and HAWK teams, who presented their formula student racing car and drone. Students got the chance to use the simulator built into the racing car and compete against one another for the best time. They also took a tour of the Institute of Railway Research, learning about the full-scale test rig.
Speakers in the evening included: Sam Eccles (SPX Flow), Andrew Hewitt (University of Huddersfield) and Harvey Kangley (AUS) on how engineering impacts their business and the exciting aspects they have experienced through their work.
