The last few weeks has seen big changes to the 3M BIC team. Jill Beckwith, who has been front of house in reception for the last three years, has taken on a business development role, focusing on liaison between tenants, network and professional services members and coordinating in-house events. Jordan Furness will continue to deal with event logistics and client analysis, as well as maintaining the Centre’s CRM system. Jordan will be assisted by one of two new placement students from the University, Maisie Mountcastle, who started at the end of August.

Luke Phillips has been confirmed as our second placement student who will work for our lead designer and additive manufacture consultant Paul Tallon. Luke starts at the 3M BIC in September and will work alongside Paul to improve our optical scanning facilities, analysing files for printing and producing visualisations, he will also be learning new skills in preparation for our acquisition of metal additive manufacturing capabilities in early 2017.

Steve Gregory has joined the University as Head of Regional Engagement and will be working closely with the 3M BIC team to build on developing the Centre’s networks and growing a unique, comprehensive business support offering. Steve, with considerable experience gained at MAS and with PERA, will be working with 3M BIC team members, tenants, network members and a range of business support specialists.

We also say farewell to one of our current placement students Alice Sjardijn, who has been part of the design team for the last 12 months. Alice, from New York, has played a pivotal role in many client projects, from 3D visualisation to app building. Alice’s work has been highly commended by clients and we’d like to say a big thank you and good luck in your final year.
