Welcome to the Institute for Educational and Social Equity that has recently set up residence at the 3M BIC.
The Institute for Educational and Social Equity was formed in July 2020 by Professor Paul Miller and Andrea Miller and provides research, training and consultancy services on anti-racism and other inclusion, diversity, and equity issues.
Built on three pillars – research, capacity development and institutional support – the Institute’s services are available to any organisation interested in developing and/or implementing research-led or research-informed interventions. It provides workshops and training packages to individuals and organisations seeking to adopt an evidence-informed approach to its Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) work.
The Institute is headed up by Paul, who has strategic responsibility for the Institute and is a former senior-level University manager. Co-director Andrea has operational responsibility for the Institute as Business Manager and is an experienced Customer Service and Accounting Manager. Both lead a team of specialists that are experts in their respective field – each possessing significant experience of one or more aspect of EDI.
Commenting on her first impressions of the 3M BIC, Andrea said, “We were attracted to the 3M BIC because it houses many other businesses, providing an excellent opportunity to increase the visibility and the work of the Institute.
“We were very impressed with the centre. The offices are quite spacious and a good fit for what we’re looking for. Not to mention the location, and fully serviced offices.”
Plans for the Institute include future growth, amplifying its impact nationally, intensifying its reach and impact within Kirklees and West Yorkshire, as well as helping Institutions and leaders to create more racially and socially just institutions.
