Rise & Design: Innovations in Health

January 25, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

We are seeing some incredible advances in healthcare, from robotic surgeons to apps that can monitor our every step.
And many of these advances have originated here in Yorkshire.
Design Network North have brought together some companies who are exploring and developing innovative healthcare products, to give us an insight into how they came about, and the journey from idea to finished product.
Speakers include:
Lee Taylor, LDT Design (www.ldtdesign.co.uk
Based in York, Lee has created products as diverse as home security products, thermal imaging cameras, and folding beds. Lee will talk about a recent project to develop a light emitting sleep mask that helps prevent blindness in people with diabetes.

Stephen Taylor-Parker, Medipex (www.medipex.co.uk)

Medipex is an innovation hub for the NHS, and connects NHS organisations across the Yorkshire & Humber and East Midlands regions with industry and academia internationally. Stephen will give an overview of the process by which new innovations are adopted by the NHS, and issues such as engaging with users and barriers to be overcome.

Tim Stern, AME Group (www.ame-group.co.uk)

AME work with clients to create power tools, office equipnment, dental care products and industrial monitoring equipment. Tim will tell us abuot a number of medical products they’ve developed, the innovations behind them and the benefits they’ve delivered.
