DOYYEC News – More funding for emerging games developers

The University Alliance (UA) launched an Innovative Future Business Competition this year which was hosted by the University of Salford at Media City. Phil Clegg from The Enterprise Team assisted with reviewing the rules and regulations for the competition.

As it was the inaugural event, each participating university could nominate an entry. As the theme was around ‘teams’ The Enterprise Team selected Ocean Spark Studios as the Huddersfield entry.

Ocean Spark Studios came first out of 11 UA universities that took part and was awarded £1,200, as well as access to the combined advice and contacts of the investor panel. This takes Ocean Spark’s funding success to date to £26,500, including Creative England, Santander/Enterprise Team, Innovating Future Business and Kirklees Alternative Market.

Joshua Hastings, Communications Officer at University Alliance, said: “Thank you very much for participating in Innovating Future Business 2017. The quality of entries to the competition was really high, and we hope that it has been a great experience for everyone involved.

“We are thrilled that Ellie Brown, Zachray Cundall, Helen Andrzejowska and Daniel Jones won a total of £1,200 for their business Ocean Spark Studios, from the following investors: ANS Group; Wakelet; Web Applications UK.”
