During a visit to the University of Huddersfield as the guest of vice-chancellor Bob Cryan and director of estates Colin Blair, cricket legend Harold “Dickie” Bird popped across the road to have his head scanned by the 3M BIC tech team.
Dickie was met by our events officer and cricket lover Jordan Furness and then photogrammetrically 3D scanned to produce a file for the additive manufacture (3D printing) of a nylon bust using one of our professional polymer 3D printers.
The scans were done by Luke Philips, our junior visualisation assistant in The Byte digital maker space.
Dickie was impressed with the scan and its likeness and can’t wait to see the final product.
Our thanks to Dickie for spending time with us and we hope you’ll enjoy the bust when it’s ready!
