Our world is changing. It’s changing fast. Businesses are looking for new ways to deliver their products and services that keep them ahead of the game and ensure innovation is at the heart of their process.
More and more companies are turning to design thinking tools and methodologies to transform their approach to planning, strategy, customer services and ideas generation.
Design thinking is the umbrella term for creative approaches to problem-solving, using techniques originating from design practice. It is being applied in many contexts to frame and solve problems, and to stimulate innovation across a broad range of business and social environments.
Design Network North – Rise & Design: Applications of Immersive Technologies

Immersive Technologies (such as Augmented and Virtual Reality) are now starting to come into their own as a tool for businesses, as well as education, training, architectural and urban design and much more.
This event will showcase both the latest technology and a range of ways that businesses are using Immersive Technologies to create, understand and explore their world in new ways.
Simon Barrett, Cooperative Innovations
Cooperative Innovations are an Immersive Technology Studio based in Leeds. Their clients include BBC R&D and Framestore, and were shortlisted for VR Compamny of the Year in the 2018 VRAwards. Simon will describe some of their recents projects, and highlightthe ways that AV and VR are helping businesses explore new opportunities.
James Fenwick, Citu
Citu are a cutting edge property development company that focus on great design to create sustainable properties. Their Virtual Reality Experience (VRE) allows customers to navigate themselves through a digital and virtual home within Citu’s new Leeds city centre Climate Innovation District – the largest sustainable development in the UK. Customers can also customise the Citu Home to their specific requirements, and view performance data such as heat loss etc. James will talk abut the development of this application and the way it has enhanced the experience for Citu and their clients.
