We’ve refreshed our brand identity at the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre (3M BIC) as we get ready to launch our new sister site, the Health Business Innovation Centre (HBIC), this Spring.
After more than a decade as a trusted hub for innovation in Huddersfield and the wider region, we recognised that our brand needed to evolve with us. The refreshed identity reflects how far we’ve come and the exciting direction we’re moving in with the launch of HBIC.
Since opening in 2012, the 3M BIC has supported businesses and organisations to innovate and grow through premium office and lab space, meeting and event facilities, access to advanced technologies for product development, and collaboration, recruitment and funding opportunities through the University of Huddersfield.
Launching soon, the HBIC situated in the new Emily Siddon building on the University of Huddersfield’s National Health Innovation Campus, will extend this offer with dedicated office and lab space for health and wellbeing-related businesses, a specialist Makerspace for health and wellbeing innovation, and additional meeting and event facilities.
The refreshed identity unites both centres under a shared purpose: to drive innovation across sectors and nurture communities of forward thinking businesses. It features a modern, directional symbol representing connection and forward momentum, creating a strong visual link between the two locations while reinforcing their shared ‘BIC’ identity – Building Innovative Communities.
Both centres support diverse sectors while working towards a common goal: to lead in innovation, foster collaboration and accelerate business growth. The brand refresh represents a commitment to creativity, connectivity and leadership in shaping the future of the region’s innovation ecosystem.
Commenting on the brand refresh, 3M BIC CEO Henry Rigg said:
“Having been part of the region’s innovation community for over a decade, it felt like the right moment to evolve our identity. The refreshed brand reflects our growth, our ambition and the increasingly connected ecosystem we’re building.
“With our sister site opening soon, this was the ideal opportunity to create a cohesive brand that brings our centres together and strengthens the innovation communities we support. Our refreshed identity signals progress and sets the direction for the future of Huddersfield’s business community. We aim to provide far more than office space – we create ecosystems where ideas grow, businesses connect and progress happens.”
The new brand was developed by Huddersfield-based brand agency Browndog.
