Our consultant designer Paul has been building relationships overseas over the last few months.

In October he made a trip to Montjuïc, Barcelona at the Fira de Barcelona to establish potential collaborative ventures with Spanish companies and the 3M BIC. During his visit he spoke to Sanitas (the Spanish equivalent of Bupa) that expressed an interest in collaborating with the 3M BIC on an app development project, as well as Swedish bioprinting company Cellink that is developing the ability to print scaffolds for human organs to be grown upon. He also met with a number of Spanish diplomats and the British consulate, Jessica Griffiths, who is keen to set up a link between the 3M BIC and the consulate to increase potential trade, especially in the current political climate.

In November, he visited a company in Denmark, where he took part in the first stages of its new additive manufacturing training resource to get a feel for how this could be adopted in the 3M BIC and offered as a training supplement to local companies and undergraduates.

He also visited DASOS, part of the MOD, in London in relation to a project they are offering in conjunction with Australia, to bring technologists and resources, such as our hardware, together to develop a new innovative way of streamlining military platforms.
