3D Printing Workshops – Vouchers available for 2021
Are you looking for the perfect Christmas gift for someone that loves tech?
What about a hands-on 3D printing workshop?
The design experts at the 3M BIC are offering hands-on 3D printing workshops in 2021 for those that love tech and want to learn more about 3D printing.
Vouchers are available for £100 (VAT included) and include two 3-hour practical sessions, the opportunity to learn from professionals and get hands-on experience using a 3D printer.
Attendees will also get to print and take home a 3D printed model (from a selection of designs).
The workshop is ideal for people (aged 18+) with a keen interest in 3D printing and want to learn more about how the technology works. No experience is necessary.
Dates will be confirmed in January 2021 once Covid 19 restrictions are updated, and will take place in the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre, Huddersfield, a Covid Secure environment, in small groups with social distancing measures. Sessions will be run during the daytime and/or early evenings, with a choice of dates. Vouchers can be redeemed up to end July 2021. Intermediate and advanced sessions will also be available subject to demand.
Beginners Session 1:
The first session will provide an introduction to 3D printing. It will cover the following:
- Introduction to 3D printing
- Different 3D printing technologies – how a 3D printer works
- 3D printing materials
- Potential applications of 3D printing technology Introduction to basic design software
- Achieving practical design and printing
- Printer maintenance and where to find practical help.
Beginners Session 2:
The second session will guide you through the design, preparation and printing of your first model. It will cover the following:
- Temperature
- Print adhesion
- Solubility of material
- Impact
- Warping/shrinking
- Types of filament
- Removal and cleaning your model
- Other considerations
- Recycling filament/biodegradable(s)
